2072: Social Media

When it comes to Marketing the film, social media may be the best way of spreading hype about your particular film. For example to bring up Deadpool again, as it is a superhero targeted for an older audience. So all the social media pages related to deadpool are full of smut and occasionally swearing. This is also marketed as if deadpool is a real person controlling everything, as it is written in his typical, rude, manor. This really helps advertise the film as it gives the fans "hype". In fact they use this popularity of the character to have synergy and convergence with other products and companies. Recently deadpool teamed up with 'Ballboy' to creat a 1:13 minute long video instructing men how to check themselves for testicular cancer. I created a Facebook page and a Twitter account for 2072. Both pages give exclusive content and Q&As to get the audience involved with the film to create this 'Hype'. It's also a way of marketing other things by that production company to an audience by saying, "If you liked ..... You'll love ......."
I'm trying to get more likes and more followers to really get the film out there so people can support and view the movie.

2072: Original Song

 While attending a Festival last year I watched a performance by a band called, 'Nanking'.
Having been quite impressed by their songs I managed to sneak backstage and get to talk with them. I asked if they would write me an original song for this film, luckily they were really nice guys and accepted. Finally, you can get to listen to it here: Cumbersnatch
I'm very pleased with this song as it just has a very awesome ring to it, and the fact they wrote it just for 2072 makes it even better!

2072: Theory's and Practices

While creating 2072 I developed a theory that swiftly turned into a practice. While reviewing the story of 2072 I came to a realisation it was simply parts of different films put together to form a new film. I call this the Frankenstein's Monster Theory, because it's lots of things sown together and bought to life much like that of the classic horror icon. For example in 2072 it is heavily inspired by Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, Frank Miller's Sin City, and James Cameron's the Terminator. It is also loosely inspired of the novel 1984 by George Orwell. Using this formula you can create new and exciting film ideas, which is helpful in a market place witch is becoming saturated due to the lack of new ideas. It's not just me that uses this but you can apply this theory to any film out at the moment, (considering it's not a biopic or remake). Take 10 Cloverfeild Lane for example. It's a mix between Cloverfeild, The Hateful Eight, Saw, and Psycho. Im not saying it's a bad thing, quite the opposite. I thinks it's amazing when thes films get weaved together because it makes something new altogether.

272: Interview With Actors

Rick White | Empire:

I: Rick, pleasure to be here with you.
R: You too Mike
I: So tell me what's it like working on 2072?
R: Well y'know there's a vaguely serious atmosphere on set a lot of the actors including myself use the technique of method acting when approaching roles such as this.
I: How do you method act 2 roles?
R: Well we filmed all the scenes with Alistair Barnes first so prepped for that first, I than had about a week after to become Shawcross, this definitely was one of the more difficult films I've done in my career.
I: Certainly sounds it, Rick. Who was your favourite person to work with on set?
R: Emma and I got on really well. I'd love to say I was the one who created the social events with the cast and crew outside of filming but that'd be a lie because Emma really love to throw a party now and then. But yeah all the cast were just great and really fun to work with. Working with Christoph was incredable because you really feel his charisma and put heart into his role. It's just a great time really.
I: What was it like working with a first time director?
R: Working with Sam? He's a great guy. Considering it was his first job I gotta give the guy credit cause working with us who addmitidly don't pay attention all the time is tough, and he approached the situation very professionally and always kept a smile on his face.
I: Okey finally question, What's your favourite character out of Aistair and Shawcross?
R: Aw man that's a tricky one....hmm...I guess it'd have to be Shawcross, simply because I love to play the villain.
I: Ha ha absolutely., Rick White thank you very much.

I: So tell me how's life at the moment?
R: Wel you know it's pretty great, got movie deals flooding in due to 2072. Hopefully keep climbing taht ladder of success , y'know what I mean, ahah no but seriously yeah, going to take a short break for a couple of months, take to wife on vacation.
I: Aww Rick you're such a romantic, hahaha how long you been married now?
R: This fall it will be 3 years
I: Thats so sweet, so anyways 2072. What's it all about?
R: Well it's based in the future. There's a bad guy with a bomb. And I've got to stop him. That's it basically...
I: And I understand you play both?
R: Yeah, I play Shawcross the villain, and Barnes the Good guy.
I: Who is your fav to play?
R: Shawcross. Yeah I love to play the villain.
I: So are their any plans for sequals in the future?
R: Well the studios have told me not to say any thing, but I can officially say we're having a tv series next year called 2073 Which takes place in the aftermath of 2072. It's great fun.
I: Ok so Lastly, Rick. What do you like most about this project
R: I just love this whole universe it creates. Watching it back and being a part of it, you really get sucked into it. And with a world like we have today it's good to take your mind of reality and disappear in a good flick.

2072: Soundtrack

A soundtrack to any film is important, let alone an indie film. It adds to the atmosphere, and makes scenes 10X more dramatic. Take a film like 'Django Unchained' for example. The soundtrack is a mix of modern R&B and old county rock/blues. And an original score by Ennio Moriconne. This soundtrack is a mix of existing film soundtracks and pop/rock hits. This is an example of "The Frankenstein's Monster" film, as it is a mix of different films cut apart and sown back together to create something completely different. But I'll talk more about that in detail later.

2072: Press

Actor Rick White poses for the front cover of Entertainment weekly and Empire. Each include an exclusive interviews with the man himself. Empires Subscribers edition Features and exclusive photo from the film and the entire issue becomes black and white in honour of the films Noir style.

2072: A Description

The year is 2072. The majority of civilians of earth have been moved in colonies across 12 different quadrants of the Milky Way. They were moved during the great rebal uprising of 2045, 29 years after world war 3, (which marked the end of individual government systems in each country). The Rebels disagreed with the WLE's (world legislation enforcers) new cloning scheme; to have 1 clone per capita of the population so people could rest more, therefore work more productively when in action. However, some people abused the power of practucally having a slave. That is why a band of Rebels tried to over run the WLE. In 2061 the Rebels went to war with the WLE and were defeated magnificently. The Rebels were rounded up into death camps and killed within 24 hours of capture. Being a supporter of this group is therefore illegal. But 11 years have passed and to the remaining population of earth, sits in the back of their heads as a faint reminder of the strict, ruthless regime they live under.

The future to us is similar to the world we live today due to WW3 completely stopping production of fresh, new, groundbreaking recorces and technology; (although a branch of the WLE called NORTH STAR had been developing type 23 decomposing monopropellant multi-passenger shuttle for quadrant travel as well as nuclear warheads for future purposes). The majority of people left on earth live in London and major cities around the world. The country sides and most smaller LEDC countries have been completely deserted and abandoned, partly due to nuclear fallout. Although the world is under tight control it is still corrupt with various drug and arms gangs found all around the world.

This film follows the story of Alistair Barnes who is clone/slave to Sebastian Shawcross: a rebel disguised as a class 2 WLE London representative who is set on destroying the entire earth along with all its citizens to finally bring down the WLE so he can bring his own law and order to the Galaxy. To do this he needs the plans of a weapon so deadly it was hidden somewhere in earth by its designer Irving Hans Goldschmidt (CEO at NORTH STAR) who tried to flee to quadrant 7 but was accused of being a rebal and was sentenced to death. To find the plans he sends his clone, Alistair to find them. Shawcross believes Barnes is the best man for this job as he used to be a ruthless Metropolitan Guerrilla (the WLEs death squad/police) who was praised for his abilities of finding small rebal groups and executing them in unconventional yet civilised natures. Although this sounds like a completely unfair and unjust system, Metropolitian Guerrillas were fair and treated everyone equally (until evidence was filed against them of course) at the end of the day it was a job, and Alistair only did it because he was conforming to his social role. Near the end of the war received shrapnel from a homemade explosive to damage his head which caused bleeding in the temporal lobe. Because of this he lost all his long term memory and woke up 72 hours later with his owner Shawcross in his 10 bedroom mansion. However Alistair was not treated as a guest but more of a prisoner. To get in the WLE's good books, Shawcross used Alistair as a bounty hunter to elinate suspected Rebels and to collect information from rats scattered across the world. Alistair lost his name but instead was given the title, "The people's huntsman" or just "Huntsman". From then on he has been searching for the plans of the so called "End" bomb.

The film itself is about internal conflict and the stuggle between good and evil. It also shows the different view points of people and individuals ideologies. Shawcross is doing an evil thing but to him it's the right thing to do. This is understandable as the WLE are a dictatorship lead by the richest people in the galaxy and abuse their powers for their own benefit. The clip I will make will show Alistair find the plans but try to make the internal decision of handing them over or destroying them and running away. If he hands them over he'll die when the bomb goes off, if he doesn't he'll have Shawcross with the entire wrath of the WLE looking for him and will indefinitely destroy him.
